The Certificate of Merit Medal was a U.S. Army decoration issued between 1905 and 1918, created to replace the older Certificate of Merit first authorized by Congress in 1847. It was awarded to soldiers for acts of distinguished service and was worn immediately after the Medal of Honor and before campaign medals.

The first medal was presented to First Lieutenant William B. Baker in 1907 (for actions as a corporal in the Spanish–American War, 1898). The last Certificate of Merit Medal was awarded in 1918, after which the decoration was discontinued.
