This piece is a faithful reproduction of the commemorative medal created by Emperor Alexander I in 1806 to honor participants of the first Russian circumnavigation of the globe (1803–1806) under the command of Johann Adam von Krusenstern.

The original medals were awarded to crew members of the ships Nadeshda and Neva, who completed the nearly three-year expedition. This historic voyage established Russia’s first direct trade links with Asia and opened new opportunities for exploration and science.
