This is a modern reproduction medal, inspired by the Imperial Russian award “For Bravery in the Capture of Izmail” (1790). The original medal was created to commemorate the Russian victory at the Siege of Izmail during the Russo–Turkish War (1787–1792), one of the defining moments in Russian military history.
