The Order of the Hero of Socialist Labour (Orden junaka socijalističkog rada) was founded in 1948, inspired by the Soviet Hero of Socialist Labour. It became the fourth highest state decoration of Yugoslavia and was awarded by the President of Yugoslavia.

It recognized citizens, companies, and institutions for outstanding professional achievements that advanced socialism, culture, industry, and national development.

In total, the order was awarded only 114 times before being discontinued in 1987 after the dissolution of Yugoslavia.
