This is a modern reproduction medal, inspired by the Imperial Russian “For Bravery” medal instituted in 1807 under Emperor Alexander I.
- Obverse: Profile portrait of Alexander I with the inscription “Alexander I Imp. All-Russia”.
- Reverse: Cyrillic inscription meaning “For Courage” (or “For Bravery”).
The original medal was awarded to Cossack officers and inhabitants of Russia’s frontier regions for acts of valor during the Russo-Persian War and the Russo-Turkish War in the early 19th century.
