Details:
This medal commemorates the Russian victory over Napoleon’s invasion of 1812, known as the Patriotic War of 1812. It features the "All-Seeing Eye" symbol surrounded by radiant beams, with the inscription "1812 ГОДЪ" (1812 Year) on the obverse.
The reverse bears the phrase: "НЕ НАМЪ, НЕ НАМЪ, А ИМЕНИ ТВОЕМУ" ("Not unto us, not unto us, but unto Thy Name"), emphasizing gratitude to divine providence.

Background:
The original medal was instituted by Emperor Alexander I to honor all who participated in Russia's defense against Napoleon’s Grand Army. Soldiers, clergy, and civilians who contributed to the war effort were eligible for the award. The distinctive black and red ribbon symbolizes the Order of St. George, Russia’s highest military decoration.
