This Commander-style neck decoration features a richly detailed crowned cross finished in gold tone, with vivid red, white and black enamel-style accents. A double-headed imperial eagle is incorporated between the arms of the cross, creating the elaborate appearance associated with this historic order.
The front medallion carries the FJ monogram of Emperor Franz Joseph I. The reverse displays 1849, commemorating the year in which the order was established.
